Carved in relief on the side of the Auckland Art Gallery, in this 2011 carving, Fred Graham here references the waka huia – a vessel for holding precious positions.  Thus the Auckland Art Gallery is labelled a waka huia, a treasure house.  The three triangles below the waka huia represent the three pa or fortified villages, of Rangipuke (hill of the skies), from where the waters gathered to form the stream which once ran down Queen Street.

This artwork is located on the side of Auckland Art gallery, by the stairs up to Albert Park.  The Auckland Art gallery is located on Wellesley Street East., central Auckland, New Zealand.
