Terry Stringer”s Mountain Fountain was installed in Aotea Square, Central Auckland in 1981. Stringer saw this fountain as a volcano, a new handmade volcano for the people of the city of volcanoes.

Mountain Fountain was relocated from Aotea Square in 2008, and it now sits outside the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell. As if it was made for its current position, the fountain seems to mirror the sharp angular profile of the Cathedral roof.

Looking in pictures almost like a painting, the Mountain Fountain is made from sheet bronze, it’s unique colour has developed over the many years it has been exposed to the elements.

Terry Stringer, creator of the fountain is one of New Zealand’s foremost bronze sculptors.

This sculpture can be found outside the Holy Trinity Cathedral, on the corner of Parnell Road and St. Stephens Avenue, Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand.
