Long Modified Bench was one of three temporary sculptures commissioned to celebrate the reopening of the Auckland Art Gallery in 2011.  It was reinstalled where it currently sits in Waitematā Plaza in 2015.

This meandering bench is made from a number of sections, and seems to move and swirl alongside the harbour.  Comparisons can be made to waves, or even a rollercoaster as it rises and falls and takes sharp turns in its trajectory.

Danish artist Jeppe Hein has become well known for his bench works which have become increasingly more complex over the course of his career.

This sculpture sits in the Waitemata Plaza at the Viaduct, Auckland CBD, Auckland, New Zealand.
